Dr. Krystl George-Ortiz is a physician specializing in the advanced management of complex acute and chronic wounds. She brings a strong background in surgical training, translational research, and evidence-based clinical care to her work with patients in both outpatient and post-acute care settings.
Dr. George-Ortiz earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport in 2012. She subsequently completed extensive General Surgery training at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., where she developed a comprehensive foundation in the surgical and medical management of complex wounds and soft tissue conditions.
Following her surgical training, Dr. George-Ortiz pursued NIH-funded graduate research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where her work focused on immunology and cancer biology. Her scientific training continues to inform her patient-centered, evidence-based approach to wound care.
Dr. George-Ortiz has developed a clinical career focused on the treatment of patients with complex wounds across outpatient and post-acute care environments. Her approach emphasizes thorough evaluation, early recognition of complications, and structured treatment strategies designed to promote optimal healing outcomes and improve patients’ quality of life.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. George-Ortiz enjoys spending time with her family. She is married and the mother of two children.
